RAW EARLY VOTE DATA IN VAN: OVERVIEW
As the Kentucky State Board of Election (SBOE) does not make absentee or early vote information available until after Election Day, this data is not available for usage during elections. However, this information can be accessed after Election Day and loaded into VAN for analysis and future planning purposes.
From the information provided by the SBOE, 94707 total voters cast their ballot early. After running a match to the voter file, there were 93576 records that matched - which is a 98.8% match rate.
STANDARD EARLY VOTING SECTION:
Since this data was not made available until after the Primary Election, it will not be loaded into the ‘Early Voting’ section in VAN since that section must be cleared and populated with information for the next election.
To allow candidates and county parties to easily access the raw data found in this section, a Custom Field has been created labeled “2022 EV Primary Election”.
In “2022 EV Primary Election”, users will be able to search for those voters who voted early (in person).
Additionally, under each voters record, users will be able to see the exact dates, as shown below:
RAW ABSENTEE & EARLY VOTE DATA IN VAN: LIST BUILDING
Similar to the “Early Voting” section, users will be able to build lists of voters by searching on the options available under the “Select a date range” drop down.
RAW ABSENTEE & EARLY VOTE DATA IN VAN: OTHER NOTES
One important thing to keep in mind with this dataset is that this is the RAW data from the State Board of Elections and IS NOT the official vote history.
Official vote history comes from the voter file from the State Board of Elections as “Voter Credit” (please refer to the “VOTE HISTORY IN VAN: METHODOLOGY” under "2020 General Election Vote History" for additional information).
