PUBLIC UNIVERSITY PERSON RECORDS IN VOTEBUILDER
OVERVIEW
Released as a dataset by the DNC to help state parties find and register individuals who are not registered, the Public Person Records dataset can be utilized to provide appended data to the voter file.
To create this dataset, the DNC combined and standardized various data sources from vendors in the progressive space. As a result of this, for example, this dataset includes information about public university system employees for all public universities in the Commonwealth of Kentucky. Additional data includes information on public university students for students at three in-state universities (EKU, NKU, UK) along with numerous out-of-state schools.
With access to public data, the ability to make this available on the voter file will help campaigns and county parties better understand their electorate or work on organizing around specific issues that may come up.
As the KDP Data Team digs into this dataset, this document will be updated to provide additional information to end users.
***It is worth noting that this dataset does not exist inside of a vacuum so those using this dataset should utilize other data points (predictive models, campaign data like support IDs, email lists, etc) to help hone potential use cases. Beyond the use cases listed below, campaigns and county parties should think creatively and holistically about how to build this dataset into their campaign plan.***
