We’re making SMS Opt-In Status available in My Voters so campaigns can reach the right voters in the right way, and adhere to shifting regulations around SMS outreach. The updates will be made in two parts.

 

First, on Thursday, September 9th:

  • You will be able to bulk apply SMS Opt-In Status in My Voters when applying phone numbers
  • The Do Not Text Canvass Result will no longer apply the Do Not Text Suppression. Instead, the Do Not Text Canvass Result will apply the Opt-Out SMS Opt-In Status for the attempted phone number. You will still be able to apply the Do Not Text Suppression from the contact record independent of the Canvass Result
  • SMS Opt-In Status will be available in the Phone Numbers Report, among others
  • To help you better track changes to SMS Opt-In Status, we’re adding Most Recent Input Type, which will exist alongside Date Modified and Modified By

Second, on Thursday, September 23rd

  • You will be able to apply SMS Opt-In Status when applying canvass responses with phone numbers
  • Bulk Apply Phone Numbers and Bulk Apply Canvass Responses in My Voters will be available via API

Keep an eye out for our Resource Center announcements at the time of these releases with links to updated help documentation. As a reminder, SMS Opt-In Status is committee-specific, and the status is consistent for a given phone number across contact records in the same committee.
