Creating a List for Texting
Prior to beginning texting for a campaign, examining how many textable voters are in the universe can help a campaign anticipate their budget.
After creating a universe of voters to talk to in ‘Create A List’, the options under ‘Phones’ can help make sure the list includes voters with phone numbers, voters with ‘Verified’ or ‘Likely’ cell phones, and even the quality of those numbers.
Depending upon how much of this criteria is used, the campaign will at least have the total number of voters with phones in their district.
However, it is important to use the ‘Is A Cell?’ section to narrow to ‘Verified’ and ‘Likely’ cell numbers as some texting platforms do not validate whether numbers are cell numbers or landlines. If a number is the latter, for instance, and it is texted, the assumption could be the reason it was not delivered is due to being disconnected when in reality it is a landline.
